Kamuzu Academy Primary School (KAPS)
KAPS pupils rehearse their 2006 Christmas play, ‘Christmas Decoration', in front of an audience of parents, Staff and Kamuzu Academy First Year students.
Kamuzu Academy Primary School presently has over fifty pupils who range in age from five to twelve years-old. It is a day school whose catchment area extends as far as Kasungu, more than twenty kilometres away, although it still caters for the children of academic staff resident on campus which was its definitive purpose when it was originally built not long after the Senior School.
Kamuzu Academy Primary School has three classrooms for Years 1 – 6 and also has a library and a small hall with a stage. The school has all the essential facilities and is well supplied with equipment.

KAPS: Class 2
KAPS strictly follows the British National Curriculum. Pupils are taught in lessons by Form, supervised by three qualified primary school teachers who are responsible for each of the three classes. Classes are vertically grouped because of the disparity in ages, and each child's pace of work is determined on an individual basis. The curriculum extends beyond basic English reading and elementary Mathematics to make use of a number of the resources avaiable at Kamuzu Academy itself: Cookery is introduced to pupils at an early age; Physical Education provides opportunities for a varied exercise programme; Art is particularly enjoyed; and Singing lessons are regularly scheduled by the Director of Music. In addition, the following activities are offered on a voluntary basis, varying from term to term: Information and Communication Technology, French, Music, Quest Club, Sewing, Life Skills (including talks on HIV & Aids), and Library Skills. For more detailed information about the curriculum, contact the Primary School Coordinator.
There exists a healthy relationship between KAPS and the Senior School, and a number of former pupils have successfully progressed to study at Kamuzu Academy itself.

KAPS teachers (L to R): Mrs. Mlenga, Mrs. Jimusole, Mrs. Chikwana (Headmistress).
