Chemistry

I.G.C.S.E (CIE) and AS/A2 Edexcel courses are offered at this time. Around 80 students study the IGCSE course, and around 40 carry on to study at AS/A2 level. Information regarding the courses can be obtained from the following websites; www.edexcel.org.uk and www.cie.org.uk

Last year the AS/A2 pass rate was 100% and the IGCSE pass rate was 85%

The Chemistry department consists of two full time teachers and one part time teacher. The Science department also has fully trained and qualified technicians and laboratory workers.

From time to time the Academy holds "open days" at the school (usually twice per year). On these occassions displays are set up in the laboratories.

Common place chemicals and equipment can be bought locally, but other supplies are obtained from either South Africa or the United Kingdom.
