Form 1 Induction Programme
On Friday, 12 June 2026, Kamuzu Academy proudly hosted one of its most important annual events – the Form 1 Induction Programme. This special occasion welcomed our new students and parents as they begin their journey into the next academic year and become part of the Kamuzu Academy family.
The day offered a unique glimpse into what makes Kamuzu Academy one of Africa's most distinctive educational institutions. Students toured our beautiful campus, explored our academic and boarding facilities, and experienced sample lessons in subjects rarely found together in one school, including Mandarin Chinese, Greek, Latin, Science, Design & Technology, and Music.
At Kamuzu Academy, education goes far beyond examination success. Our mission is to develop well-rounded ladies and gentlemen through a holistic approach that nurtures academic excellence, character, leadership, creativity, and global citizenship. This commitment to a broad and enriching education is what continues to set us apart.
The programme began with a welcome address by Headmaster Mr Andrew Lambert-Knott, who shared the Academy's vision and highlighted the unique opportunities available to every student. Parents and students were then taken on guided tours of the academic and residential areas and introduced to the house system through meetings in paired houses: Mbelwa/Mlonyeni, Chilanga/Gomani, Nthalire/Kilipula, and Chilowa/Kapeni.
Throughout the day, families attended presentations on Academic Life and Expectations, Pastoral Care, Boarding Life, Uniform and Personal Care, Well-being, Spiritual Life, and a Question-and-Answer session, ensuring that every student and parent gained a comprehensive understanding of life at Kamuzu Academy.
To complete the experience, our new students enjoyed a taste of the outstanding meals served daily in our dining hall, just one of the many aspects of boarding life they can look forward to.The induction also provided an opportunity to celebrate the achievement of our new Form 1 students and their families. Having successfully passed the highly competitive Kamuzu Academy Entrance Examination and to their parents for securing one of the limited places available each year. Admission to Malawi's Grammar School is a significant achievement and marks the beginning of an exciting journey of academic excellence, character development, and lifelong opportunities.
It was a wonderful day filled with excitement, discovery, and anticipation for the journey ahead. We look forward to welcoming our new students as they join Kamuzu Academy, proudly known as "The Eton of Africa."
