THE BEAUTY OF TIME

I was given a story by a renowned American Basketball player. He was talking about ‘Time’. He was arguably one of the best if not the best basketball player, at least of his time.

In his own words, he admitted that he was not born the best, but just average. However, he used the leverage of time. He narrated that he, at one point, chose one of the best basketball players to train against. Obviously, he lost the contest by a wide margin. Then he went his way, and put in a lot of consistent time in training alone. In the next challenge, he lost, but had improved quite a great deal. Then he repeated the process with laborious consistency. Each time the gap, narrowed down. Until, eventually, one day he beat the best. And he kept training, to stay on top. Such stories are many and are narrated with predictable outcomes. You too, have heard of some or experienced something similar.

What is the career you would like to pursue? What are the subjects you would like to excel in? Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Politicians, Pilots…are not made in a day. For some, the journey starts from a tender age. For all, the answer is time, and time used, and time used consistently. Add to the given time consistency, and hard work, and the discipline not to quit. The top will be yours.
